Case Study One free essay sample
They begin as glass panels that are manufactured in high-technology fabrication centers in South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Operating sophisticated tooling in environments that must be kept absolutely clean, these factories produce sheets of glass twice as large as king size beds to exacting specifications. From there, the glass panels travel to Mexican plants located alongside the U. S. border. There they are cut to size, combined with electroniccomponents shipped in from Asia and the United States, assembled into finished TVs, and loaded onto trucks bound for retail stores in the United States. Itââ¬â¢s a huge business. In 2006, U. S. consumers spent some $26. 4 billion on flat panel TVs, a 63 percent increase over the amount spent in 2005. Projections call for U. S. sales to hit $37 billionââ¬âdespite the fact that due to intense competition, prices for flat panel displays have been tumbling and are projected to continue doing so. During 2006 alone, prices for 40-inch flat panel TVs fell from $3,000 to $1,600, bringing them within the reach of many more consumers. We will write a custom essay sample on Case Study One or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In 2007, half of all TVs sold in the United States will be flat panel TVs. The underlying technology for flat panel displays was invented in the United States in the late 1960s by RCA. But after RCA and rivals Westinghouse and Xerox opted not to pursue the technology, the Japanese company Sharp made aggressive investments in flat panel displays. By the early 1990s Sharp was selling the first flat panel screens, but as the Japanese economy plunged into a decade-long recession, investment leadership shifted to South Korean companies such as Samsung. Then the 1997 Asian crisis hit Korea hard, and Taiwanese companies seized leadership. Today, Chinese companies are starting to elbow their way into the flat panel display manufacturing industry. As production for flat panel displays migrates its way around the globe to low-cost nations, clear winners and losers have emerged. One obvious winner has been U. S. consumers, who have benefited from falling prices of flat panel TVs and are snapping them up. Other winners include efficient manufacturers who have taken advantage of globally dispersed supply chains to make and sell low-cost, high quality flat panel TVs. Foremost among these has been the California-based company Vizio. Founded by a Taiwanese immigrant, in just four years of sales, Vizio flat panel TVs ballooned from nothing to $700 million in 2006. The company is forecasting sales as high as $2 billion for 2007. Vizio, however, has only 75 employers, These employees focus on final product design, sales, and customer service, while Vizio outsources most of its engineering work, all of its manufacturing, and much of its logistics. For each of its models, Vizio assembles a team of supplier partners strung across the globe. Its 42-inch flat panel TV, for example, contains a Panel from South Korea, electronic components from China, and processors from the United States, and it is assembled in Mexico. Vizioââ¬â¢s managers scour the globe continually for the cheapest manufacturers of flat panel displays and electronic components. They sell most of its TVs to large discount retailers such as Costco and Samââ¬â¢s Club. Good order visibility from retailers, coupled with tight management of global logistics, allows Vizio to turn over its inventory every three weeks, twice as fast as many of its competitors, which is a major source of cost saving in a business where prices are falling continually. If Vizio exemplifies the winners in this global industry, the losers include the employees of the manufacturers who make traditional cathode ray TVs in high-cost locations. In 2006, for example, Japanese electronics manufacturer Sanyo laid off 300 employees at its U. S. factory, and another Japanese company, Hitachi, closed its TV manufacturing plant in South Carolina, laying off 200 employees. Both Sanyo and Hitachi, of course, still made TVs, but they are flat panel TVs assembled in Mexico from components manufactured in Asia.

Attachment Behaviors in Children - Common Behavior Patterns & Solutions
Attachment Behaviors in Children - Common Behavior Patterns & SolutionsA combination of effective home reading skills and excellent home-study essays will be the foundation of a successful parenting plan. Attachment behaviors in children can be difficult to deal with. Thus, parents must be prepared for them. The first attachment behavior a child exhibits is the desire to be in charge. Young children who are in full control of their environment will always be happy. By establishing a sense of independence in a child, parents can ensure that he or she will always be happy. However, it must be remembered that the child's desire to be in charge will usually be met with confusion by the parent. It is important to establish rules that the child must follow, otherwise the child will begin to feel that he or she can make decisions for the family. The second attachment behavior is aggressive behavior. Any parent who has had any experience with their own children knows how destructive this b ehavior can be. Forcing children to accept discipline is a tactic that can cause more problems than it solves. Parents must avoid this tactic as much as possible. This form of behavior can lead to many other problems in a child, such as conduct disorder.Attachment behavior is also dangerous for a child. It causes a child to be unable to listen to reason and may result in a refusal to listen. Such a child will always demand his own way of doing things and will not listen to the family when there is an issue to resolve. Thus, the tendency to resist change will be reinforced, which will only result in the destruction of both the child and the family.Parenting an unruly child is not as simple as it seems. The methods that work for one child may not work for another. While it is important to always avoid confrontation and have a close and loving relationship with your child, there is no substitute for consistency and steadfastness. Without this, parenting becomes almost impossible.I have put together a few sample essays and home study lessons for parents that deal with attachment behaviors in children. Graded performance 1 Essays (998 words) - Musical Instruments, Music
Edward Griggs Applied Music 9A 4 May 2019 Self-Evaluation: Graded Performance #1 This semester I have been tasked with bringing Alexandre Guilmant's, "Morceau Symphonique" to life. This has not been an easy task. With contrasting tempos shifting from sixty-three beats per minute, to shifting to one hundred and five beats per minute, this piece is very challenging. This piece is in the key of Gb Major which has been a great learning experience for me as a euphonium player. The interval leaps are also very tricky, often requiring octave leaps leading me into three octave range, both while requiring a very aggressive forte to fortissimo dynamic level. Last Friday, I had my first music 9a performance, my first as an applied music student at. A performance which after much reflection I am not content with. My peers provided me with detailed feedback on my performance, through the performance evaluation forms. Upon further reading of their comments and feedback I have narrowed down the pros and cons of my performance. I'll begin with the cons first. A majority of my peers seem to all agree on the same thoughts, these involved intonation, dynamic, breathing, and preparedness issues. Other issues involved failure to introduce the piece to my audience, and proper etiquette for the final bow. Intonation for the most part was solid and resonant. Chipping and fracking of notes occurred in the opening phrases of the piece, and in the faster second half of the piece where I am required to go above two octaves, along with, a three octave Db which I didn't hit properly. The second issue with my performance going off feedback received, was that of dynamic contrast. The audience felt as if there was room for bigger, more drastic, dynamic contrast. My forte dynamics could have been larger, along with not coming off as strong or rounded, per note, as it should have been. I also received comments about ghosting notes and not finishing off the more legato phrases with enough confidence. This leads us to the final problems many noticed throughout my performance, confidence and breath control. The audience noticed that there was a lack of confidence and stage presence on my part. They also commented on my phrases coming off as weak during certain forte sections in my piece. This being attributed to a lack of air in certain staccato, and legato phrases where the musical passage takes me up to higher octave notes which were not clear. That is not to say that my performance as a whole was all negative. I also received positive feedback which involved: great use of articulations of notes, nice professional attire, solid lyrical and technical contrast great resonant tone full of clarity in the mid, low, and upper range. On the other hand, people seemed to love how lyrical I made phrases and how I effectively utilized vibrato and sustains to really emote my feelings and expressions throughout the piece. It was nice to see my peers entertained and impressed by my playing, although they for the most part feel like I can do more and take it to another level. I enjoyed the constructive criticism and praise I received last Friday. This leaves me eager to work on improving this peace. Hence, as for improvement and preparation for the next graded performance, including juries, I've decided to change up my playing routine to better strengthen my weaknesses. This has involved going back to square one and take a more holistic approach with how effectively and efficiently my breathing is. Thankfully, with the help of my incredible private lesson instructor, Beth Mitchell, I've been playing through excerpts focusing on obtaining a bigger, more fuller sound in everything I play. She believes my sound is at fifty percent of what it can and needs to be. Fixing how I breathe will immediately fix intonation problems, especially through the slower melodic phrases that are required to be slurred only, not tongued. This will also allow me to better control and exaggerate the dynamics in the piece. I fully agree with my peers that I need to do more with this piece in terms of shaping and expressing the dynamics of this piece. Furthermore, as

Consumer Behavior â⬠Marketing Research Paper
Consumer Behavior ââ¬â Marketing Research Paper Free Online Research Papers Consumer Behavior Marketing Research Paper For marketers the term ââ¬Å"aestheticsâ⬠relate to consumers five senses of vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell in response to an object. Marketers to incorporate pleasing attributes to differentiate their product and to feed into consumerââ¬â¢s emotions when making purchasing decisions use these five elements. Vision is the most important one of these senses because marketers know a consumerââ¬â¢s visual perception is the first introduction and this can highly influence whether a consumer will even consider the purchase of the product. This includes color, shape, pattern, movement and scale of the product. The next sense is hearing, in some cases this is very important in product decision-making especially in the electronic industry. Touch, taste, and smell is usually in the food industry. In the food industry this will make a large impact on their product. It doesnââ¬â¢t matter how good something might smell if it does not taste good consumers are not willing to purchase the product no matter what the cost. Marketer must find out what their consumers are looking for when they are in the first stages of development to determine which senses are they going to emphasize to their potential consumers. Finding the right elements will determine how a company will market their product to ensure that the consumers will be drawn in to at least try their product. For example for a company that puts out potato chips the marketers would probably want to convey that their product is visual pleasing by having them the right oval shape with the right amount of seasoning, hearing the chip crunch, the chip feels crispy, it has a great taste with the right amount of ingredients, and it smells pleasant. This example uses all of the senses to attract to consumers of potato chip buyer and marketers must use all of this to set their product above their competitors who are using the same technique. Marketers must also find consumers opinions on products so they can find out how they are going to influence consumers by assocating attributes that will affect their purchasing behavior. In Luc Ferryââ¬â¢s article ââ¬Å"The Origins of Aestheticsâ⬠, he argues that as humans we have evolved to appreciate and demand more than basic design but a more sophisticated one as he states ââ¬Å"aesthetics proper is a recent discipline, born of a real revolution in our perception of the phenomenon of beautyâ⬠. Visual aesthetics has a huge impact on marketers and the consumers. Marketers know that the first thing a consumer reacts to is the visual of a product. This first introduction can either offend the consumer or it could lead to a connection with that potential buyer for that product. No matter what class that potential consumer belongs to that person judgment will make a large impact whether that person will make that initial purchase. This measure of purchasing decision rides hard on marketers, as ââ¬Å"it is important to understand and measure these individual differences relating to design for several reasons First, individual differences in responsiv eness to visual aesthetics may underlie a number of other well-established consumer behavior variables such as product involvement, brand loyalty, materialism, innovativeness, self image congruence, choice, and usage behaviorâ⬠(Bloch; Brunel; Arnold). These implications for product design can decide whether which product aesthetics are assessed and used in making a purchase decision. This is also why marketers have done so much to differentiate products from existing competitors because this can be the difference between thousands in sales to millions. An example of ongoing aesthetic design is promenant in the car design manufacturers and portable devices such as cell phones and electronics. Car manufactures have taken product design to a very important part of deign as it states, ââ¬Å"While manufacturing costs always decline with the use of commonality, the firmââ¬â¢s overall profits may decline because of reduced differentiation.â⬠(Desai, Kekre, Radhakrishnan, Srinivasan) Portable electronics such as cell phones, digital camera, and computer notebooks are just the number of items that have to stay on top of product differentiation to stay on top of the growing market. As consumers get more sophisticated they want more from these devices from new functions to new sleek designs. Cell phones companies such as Nokia, which started out with just a black plastic bag of a phone that served one purpose to provide the user with phone mobility in the early 1990s. Now Nokia and other cellular phone companies offer continuo us functions and attributes such as cameras and text messaging for their customers ââ¬Å"recognizing that, system makers are constantly searching for innovative ways to make their products stand out in the marketâ⬠.
